chrysler 1998 Jeep wrangler wont connect??

Hi all I purchased a Crecorder 2, verfied by being able to update firmware. win 7 software connects great and connects to usb cable to unit. I put it in the chrysler 1998 Jeep wrangler (ISO) and went for drive, cant get any data?? I will try today again to see if I am not doing it right? Any info apprecited....
