2005 Suzuki Verona. I just spent 1.5 hours (actual time clock spent) attempting to clear the Airbag light on this one. Using Software version 22.0 and smart connector, can get to the menu Read Faults and Clear Faults but attempting to move to the next menu move and get the ole "error communicating" I tried Japan, North America, other area, also loaded older version 21.0. Other modules access haphazardly, its all kinda willy nilly as to whether a particular module will accees and just how far you can go into each menu.

does the scan tool tell you to use the smart connector??...that doesn't mean anything.....
.i have found that after using the connector requested by the tool and it not working properly or only accessing some of the vehicles info .. usually the can connector works ... bottom line ....try the can connector
i have been asking for an updated connector to vehicle usage list .. the latest version i have seen is dated dec 2005

Tried CAN BUS II , no help, same results. I really think this is a Launch issue, because I can ID other computers (example the BCM) but can not clear faults.get the error in communciation messsage. I also looked for a purple connector connector to "short" per an iATN suggestion to read out blink codes, but it ain't there either. Supposedly this system is a first cousin to GM 's airbags and yes I tried a Launch Chevy software..no help. This one is pronounced dead and outta here.

i 'm curious to know if this car goes to another independent shop for light reset , if they are able to access fault clear menu..... i assume you are performing after collision body shop reset on this suzuki .or it's used dealer vehicle
..it may need a sdm ( module) and the launch stops short of accessing the read /reset menu because of the module

Yes, I had thought it may need a SDM seeing the Launch "stopped short" of read/clear faults, but considering the Launch "bugged out" on other modules, I did not want to take the chance for a wild ass guess. Other buggy readouts included BCM (ID'd but could not read/clear), TCM would not communicate and a couple of other module irregularities that I don't recall at the moment. The customer said the nearest dealership is over 200 miles and he's going to have to go there. I may have one of the ladies in the office follow up in a week or so with a phone call to find out whether the SDM was the problem.

YEP, spent nearly an hour trying any and every variant of Suzuki to see if it would respond, I hit a brick wall each and every time. I did the 'full court press' on this baby and came up zeros.

The most current Suzuki software is version 23.00. I don't know if it covers your car or not but you might want to check it. You should probobly check the China site because it may not be on the US site as of yet.

Our most current connector guide shows -16C as the correct one. It won't help however if the software has a problem. I'll see you either Monday or Tuesday.

Cool Coyote, I will tel you all about the VW seminar training, we just got back from it in L.A. Angelo Campana, Eurodiagnotics, really good teacher, informative , hi tech presentation stye and of course, always entertaining when Angelo's at the head of the class.
And oh, btw, I did just download the newest Suzuki software, nevertheless, I won't be seeing this car anymore. It was dealer who has sold it and shortly afterward the Airbag light came on and they were "in his face" demanding to get it fixed. He was leaving for Atlanta to see Suzuki to get it fixed lest he have to face his irrate customer.

First, there's the "fake it till you make it" Second, there's the ole I'll figure it out as I go Last, but not the least, there's the ole stand by, kiss you ass goodbye cause you just lost it taking a "wild ass guess" that didn't work.
And on those occasions that I decide not to engage one of the three options above, I simply turn away the customer with a smile...and give them something like, uh, I am waiting on the next software download to be released, the engineers are debugging an error and I will give you a call back as soon as its fixed and of course if you can't wait, I understand, give me a call next time . Or I do the ole "drive by shooting" method of drop it by and I will do a scan on it, and then if I get into the scan and see I can't get definitive help from my Launch, I bail and don't charge the customer. Last, if I see there is chance that my Launch is going to compromise my credibility on some customer account that I don't want to lose the customers future service work because of a hole in the Launch capability, I say sorry, this is a proprietory issue and the dealer has a lock on it ( and as far as I am concerned that indeed is my reality, cause I ain't going to go buy a $20,000 scanner just so I can hang shingle outside my door that says.. WE CAN DO ALL SYSTEMS ON ALL CARS! ) I got better things to do with my money...uh, kinda like, bread and milk for the baby.
