Working on a Porsche Boxter, VIN: WP0CA29881U625237 Build date: 03/2001 Porsche software 15.0 - Canbus II connector.

ABS, Air Bag, Instrument cluster and other body modules will NOT communicate. Only DME will communicate. I tried building it as a 911, Boxter and Cayene but only DME would communicate. The ABS light wasn't on, so I assume its communicating with the car, just not the scanner.

Also, can "module locking" be added to the Tool? The Air Bag module was replaced and it needs "locked" to the vehicle, which I don't think it can currently do.

This is not a Canbus car. Try the -16C

After the SmartBox loads the Porsche software and you select Boxter (986) it gives you a list of connectors to use and CanBus II is in the list.

However, I looked at the connector guide after your suggestion and it does show 16C as the only connector and it works!

I would still like the option to "lock" a module to the car, but after clearing codes, the light went out, so I dunno!

I appreciate your response. Another shop was working on it and couldn't get the SRS light out. You made me look like a hero (and made me some money) Very Happy

When a new module is fitted to these cars, they come "unlocked" After installation, it must be "locked" to the car. I guess its Porsche's version of module coding (like a BMW).

The unit will be non-functional and will display warning lights in the Instrument Cluster until locked to the car.

thanks..it's like codeing on the pre 2004 vw and audis .......most of the coded modules on the newer vw and audis are similiar but they have to go through the factory fazit system ...the tech needs a password and direct on line connection to the vw factory ....the newer porsches are probably the same
