Subject: 2009 bmw e60 srs codes Wed Jan 13, 2010 4:53 am
i have a 2009 5 series e60 ...this car was hit in the left front and a partial upper rail was replaced near the stut tower .. this car was sent to the bmw dealer for the the aluminum rail replacement .....the estimate was written for engine r&r ..i'm not convinced the engine was removed ....
.the vehicle is all reassmbeled ...and i got the call to check for trouble codes
.battery was charged with a conventional charger at the body shop directly at the battery with the battery connected ........from the sound of cranking i can tell voltage is still low ..the car does start and run
...any way that's the back ground ..i have two srs codes and i'm unfamiliar with the second code ....can anyone point me in the right direction from their experience?
codes as described on launch tool :::: 93fc undervoltage and 93fd battery lead, ground (monitoring of shielding) thanks paul

If you clear them, do they come back? Two things come to mind. First, you stated that the vehicle was charged with a conventional charger. Absorbant Glass Mat (AGM) batteries are optional for these cars and if it has an AGM battery, conventional chargers can ruin them. Second, never charge these batteries at the battery, unless its unhooked. It can make the battery sensor read wrong or cause damage to it. This "could" be your source of the fault code.

thanks for the reply....yes the two srs codes come back ....i don't see the srs light flash when the scan tool says "code clear sucesfull"
......the car has an exide battery with a charge indicator eye like an old ac delco battery..i' didn't get that close to see if it had agm written on it ....i added all the battery charging method info to my original post because i thought it might shed some light on the meanings of the codes
i told the body shop a few years ago he needed to buy a "smarter" charger and get some training for his guys
the car is going to the bmw dealer ...i'll post the results when i get them

These are undervoltage codes in the Safety Gateway Module (SGM). You must clear here then clear the satellite modules otherwise they will flag and not clear.
