Volvo V36.00 released 2010-05-06 is having known issues with S40 and S60 models. LAUNCH will be releasing a follow-up version to remedy this problem in the next few days.
I confirmed that V36.00 is not working properly on a 2001 S40. It would not communicate with the ECM or TCM. Version 35.10 worked fine. V36.00 did work for me on a newer body style 2004 S40.
Does anyone know how to find which transmission type the vehicle has? This particular vehicle had 2 different transmission options and both seemed to communicate fine.
There is no way to do a vin check on this series (S40 -04) with the scan tool. You can find the engine type on a sticker on the inside of the hood but I didn't find any transimission type designations.
The choices were 2 different trans designations. Both communicated fine. If one was for a manual trans wouldn't it come back with an error in communication? Would there even be a trans module for a manual?
