tried both the 22 pin under the hood as well as the 17 pin connector right behind the OBD connector. I'm getting a "no signal output from the diagnosetic socket". I tried my old snap on solus and everything works fine.
I tried using japan area > powertrain > auto search system I get "the vehical has not system of this part"
If you are going for powertrain it will always be in the 16 pin connector if its available (1996 and newer). Normally you go Japan Area - All system - Engine & ECT. If the 22 pin is present, it will have your body/chassis. If I'm not mistaken, the 17 pin will only give you flash codes.
I diagnose it using my solus so the car is gone now. I have a diagun, if that makes any difference. I know I'm able to get into camarys before with older software, but I recently updated everything all at once. is it possible to have the update screw up during an update? I got no warnings or anything.
I had a 97 camry that just came in, and just out of curiosity, I try scanning it. I'm getting the exact same error.

I would definitely re-download Toyota and the display program and make sure you FORMAT the micro-SD card. To be safe, format it twice before you use the Launch update tool.
seems there was an error when I updated. redownloaded everything and reinstall it and was able to scan a 01 camry this morning. the funny thing was when I updated the first time, there was no error message or warning.
