Display Program for X-431 Series V17.30 LSDC 2011-06-10
This program is issued in 24 languages: English, simplified Chinese, Japanese, German, traditional Chinese, French, Portuguese, Russian, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Turkish, Dutch, Greek, Hungarian, Arabic, Serbian, Romanian, Danish, Farsi, Korean, Finnish, Swedish, and Czech.
Compared with the previous version (V17.20), 1. The lower computer has been upgraded to V5.2. 2. The hardware recognition has been changed.
Precautions about Download Software: Because of optimization for software configuration, the latest version of display program shall be used to for the diagnostic software issued after Sep. 20, 2006.
If you want to use the software released before and after Sep. 20, 2006 in one CF card, please refer to the ways below: 1. The latest version of display program shall be used for the software released after Sep, 20, 2006. 2. The display program V14.12 shall be used for the software released before Sep, 20, 2006.
How to toggle new/old Display program version: After powering on the X-431, the system will run the latest version of display program automatically. If you want to use display program V14.12, please click the “PRE” button at the bottom of the screen, then choose the “software issued before Sep, 20, 2006” icon, the following operation is as the same as before.
Looks like there is a software bug with this display version. Just updated my Tool today and now the program won't load and the error message reads ' The serial no. of smartbox can not be detected'.
I reloaded the older available display, 17.10 and it works fine.
Anyone else having this issue? I'd hold off on updating the display until there is some confirmation from Launch.
Edmond - With the original Launch X431 (known as the standard or super scanner) it is fully updatable like any other legitimate Launch proline scanner (Tool, Infinite, Master, Diagun).
You cannot use a recent display program with very old car line version software. You will notice in the release notes that you must use software released after 09/20/06 with the latest display.
You have to use a legacy display version (14.12) with software released prior to 09/20/06.
If you take a very outdated Launch and just update the display program and not the car line software, you will have issues.
My issue probably has something to do with software compatibility in display 17.30 and nothing to do with my Launch X431 Tool by itself. As I stated, it works fine on any older display version. But, I'm not a software engineer so I'll wait for someone to give me some direction. In the meanwhile, I'm not touching display 17.30.
So, you are using display version 17.30 on your master and everything is good?
@edmond - The latest Display will supersede older versions. This means you can maintain the latest Display, and still run older software.

I have no issue with the Latest Display. You're missing my point. My experience with the latest Display is it's missing the download bar that I cannot use it on my old super scanner. With my Master scanner, it works perfectly. I'm not interested with the old soft, who's still using the old soft anywhere? I'm not sure the super scanner update include this Display V17.30 in it's download site?

I don't understand what you're asking. With the X431 Master, versus the original X431 standard, there is not menu that says "Downloading Program". This is part of why the Master is quicker in speed. Both the standard and Master come with the V17.30 Display.

The 1st picture- An X431 Master with Display V17.30 - very normal
The 2nd Picture- An X431 standard with Display V17.30 - Not normal - Missing 'OK' box but only'Cancel' box. no downloading bar.
The 3rd picture- An X431 standard NOT with Display V17.30- very normal with downloading bar & 'OK' box.

Again, the X431 MASTER does not have a downloading menu except for the initial one performed after updating a flash card. All other times it will only display the first two.
2nd image - I encountered this on a unit and it seemed to stall for a long time before finally producing the OK option. Is this an ongoing issue on one specific unit? You may be having hardware issues. Display is not the cause as you've already confirmed.
Lastly, the X431 Standard and Tool (wireless) should always have the download menu.

This unit used a Display V17.30. What do mean by stall? This Display version V17.30 has NO DOWNLOADING BAR. X431 standard need this downloading bar to work. Lastly, the X431 Standard and Tool (wireless) should always have the download menu.
reiterate this is just a waste of discussion. Anyone who doesn't know this is either he/she own an X431 Master or never own an X431 tool or standard.
Conclusion--everything I need to say or write is alreading writen or explained that's including pictures to back up my experience. I reiterate, I have no problem or issue with Display V17.30 nor I'm complaining about V17.30 on my X431 standard as I'm no longer using it. I just wish I get some productive info but unfortunately I did not. I wish all of you well. My case closed now!
This version is working fine, however there is a fundamental change to the way the 'Tool' and 'Infinite' react to this display version upon the first time you connect to a vehicle after updating.
Once you update to display version 17.30, your smartbox must be plugged in/powered on before you initiate the Launch program (GAG-GD SCAN or hotkey). If you don't have the smartbox powered on you will get the error message ' The serial no. of smartbox can not be detected'.
After the first connection, the smartbox and main unit are now married and subsequently you will not receive the error message if the smartbox is not powered on while initiating the Launch software.
This process doesn't apply to the non-wireless Master or Standard since the smartbox is integrated with the main unit.
