ECU adaptation engine control

Having issues doing an adaptation, we installed an ECU into 2000 Passat 1.8t. Tried to run the adaptaion to bring it online with the car and the scanner will accept the channel '00' and start communication but will not go any further. Any ideas?

P.S. the ecu is out of another car and the immpbilizer engages, the adaptatation should allow the ECU to be brought online but the X431 seems to be having an issue with it.

The problem I highlighted in bold.

Because it is a used ECU, the VIN and data has to be removed prior to you using the X431 to adapt it to the new vehicle.

The Launch has no way to remove the previous vehicles data, it can only to add a new and/or cleared out ECU to a vehicle.

This is beyond the capability of the tool.

Hope this helps.

We are having cam advance issues, there is no signal from the ECU driver to advance the cam. Tensioner is new and we have retested it to verify, good oil psi, cam is free, wiring harness is good from tensioner to ECU. Any ideas?
