Why does tech support not respond to my emails??

I've emailed tech support (A month ago) about my Crp 123 not auto detecting on GM pickups (around 03.) There's another post on here about someone else having the same problem.  This was supposed to be an upgrade from my CreaderVI.  So far, due to a lack of any tech support, I don't know if I'll by another Piece of Junk Launch scanner.  The sad thing is, I got the whole shop to get themselves a CreaderVI, but I've advised all the techs and General Service people, that the CRP123 isn't an upgrade in the American market because of this problem.

I have CRP129.  Are you talking about Auto detect on enhanced side or Generic side?

I used it on 2004 trailblazer today and MAP reading on CRP129 is way off!!  it was reading 2.25 V KOEO and 0.52 or something like that at idle.  I thought there was something wrong with this MAP sensor and kicked my own ass.  it had 4.7v KOEO but scanner was reading something different thinking wiring or PCM problem.  Finally used tech2, MODIS, and MaxiDas to see the voltage at the sensor matched voltage on scanner.

I did send this info to their tech support.

My problem is with the Generic Auto detect.   I can go into the enhanced scan and retrieve codes, look at PIDS, etc...  but can't see generic Items, such as freeze frame, and readiness monitors.   (Freeze frame is nice to have to see the setting conditions of course, and I use the readiness status to perform drive cycles to ready vehicles for state inspections/verify repairs at times.)

Yeah, I think I had same kind of problem with 03 Mazda 6, I think???  I can get into enhanced side, but not generic side.

But, I cannot really complain too much considering how much they are.

MaxiDas was pretty good on GM, Ford, and Chrysler.

I thought you can look at freeze frame on enhanced side.  Maybe that's just tech2.  I know I can look at it on my tech2.

Anyway, I think this tool has a few flaws.  But Its name is C Reader, right?  Like a Code Reader??  It might be good to have a code reader by another brand like Autel to have another point of view.  Autoenginuity is pretty good too.  Kind of expensive to just buy it for generic code reader though.  and it's super slow.  But, Mode6 is really good!!  Just for that you may wanna buy it!

I use Autel MaxiScan MS509 and it's super easy to use and super cheap.  You may wanna try that too!!  Just generic OBD2 though.

The thing that bothers me is that my old CreaderVI didn't have ABS and SRS capabilities, but all generic functions worked, and it cost me half as much.  When I "upgraded" to this, I sold my old CreaderVI, thinking that this was just as capable and then some.   Then just to have the company not respond, well, just makes me not want to buy anything with the Launch name on it. Though the old Creader exceeded expectations, a lack of support kills my faith in future purchases.     I have a SnapOn Verdict for the heavy lifting, but more often than not, my old handheld is the general workhorse until things get a bit more complicated.

Yeah, sometimes tech support sucks.  But every scanner has its flaws.

I remember buying MODIS when it first came out and didn't do what it said it did.  talked to snap on and ended up talking to snap on engineer.  He told me that they know they have software problem, but they are not fixing it anytime soon.  I ended up having them take MODIS back after fighting with then for a while.  Got my MTG2500 and Vantage back.  I got that MODIS back in June 2003.

Anyway, for generic stuff, you might wanna try that Autel MaxiScan MS509.  It's less than $50.  It's fast!!  Faster than waiting for tech support to reply to you:)  They probably know the problem you are talking about.  They probably haven't got to it yet.

How is that Verdict?  Is it pretty good?  I use my MODIS when I have to.  I use tech2 and IDS a lot probably because they are easy to use.  I just got my MaxiDas a few weeks ago, so still testing out right now.  But it's pretty amazing so far!!  It's pretty chaep.  You can talk to your CarQuest salesman.  They are Autel dealer.  My price from them was $1448.  That's pretty good with support I can get from authorized dealer(CarQuest).  Menu line up and data looks just like tech2.  Ford and Mazda look just like IDS.  And Honda was just like HDS(just as slow as HDS too:)  I have never used witech, so I can't say much about chrysler part of this scanner, but it's really good.

So far, MaxiDas does a lot more than my MODIS with 13.2 software.

It appears to me that as of Mid November, there was an update to the scantool that FINALLY fixed this issue with generic communications to Chevrolets.... Still no Reply from Launch's crack team of online support folks. Actually, I had my Mac Tools rep call the launch folks to find this out. (It just happened to be the week before the update was released.) I note that I bought this think from my Cornwell tools rep, who didn't have time to investigate for me. That being said, my Cornwell accounts are paid off, and I've opened a Mac account. In related news, my CRP!23 has been saved from being target practice on my home firing range.
