Never have done one, but I do know there is a procedure for coding the cluster on the Launch website, not sure if it covers your particular car, but its worth the time to take a look and see. Let us know how this turns out?

Log into the x431 update site. In the datum list the procedure is listed. Follow it exactly!!!!! Once you set the country coding the cluster is locked!!!!!!!! Do all coding first then set country code.

Yep, tatsess is right, you can send it to Beckmann or BBA Reman, they do the repair and keep the resident codking, so its plug and play once you get it back. Search them out on the internet.

One more thing about your 1040 fault, try changing the CAN ID number; there should be two choices. I see on our tech board where another tech had the same error "display defective" and it was corrected by doing just this.

Hey Euro, I can't say I have done it with the Launch. Question: Did you got to the Launch webstie and follow the procedure step by step? Search on the website under Datums for "how to match a W220 instrument cluster". If this doesn't work, then perhaps Coyote can chime in on the matter. I know he's a rocket scientist on these kinda things; perhaps, he can say whether the Launch is the issue or whether your control panel is the issue. Again, I want to mention, if you strike out with the Launch, then think about haveing the original cluster sent off for repair. to Beckmann or BBA reman.

PostSubject: Autologic procedure   icon_minitime.gifTue Aug 25, 2009 6:05 amReply with quote

I just found the procedure for Autologic, pehaps this will help along with what you find on the Launch site.

The coding process to enter the mileage may slightly depending on the Instrument
cluster. However, the procedure of entering the mileage MUST always be entered before
coding to National Version. Failure to do so in this order will prevent the mileage
from being displayed.
1. With old cluster still installed, go to Instrument Cluster > Control Unit Adaptations
> Version Coding > Optional Equipment.
2. Write down all the coding info off of the old Instrument cluster. Copy all
information as it is listed as this will set the version coding that is specific
to that vehicle.
3. Go into Coding Specific for ICM. Copy info on this precisely as it will pertain
to installation on the new cluster.
4. Install new cluster. When connected should display -------- in the odometer
screen and these should be flashing.
5. Instrument Cluster > Settings > ICM Settings > Increase Total Distance counter
> Select the option of either KM or Miles > A Warning will appear !!!! > Be
sure to CLEAR the data displayed in the Keyboard screen.
6. Enter the mileage or KM that is needed to be displayed on the new cluster
7. The mileage will not be displayed in the new cluster at this stage
8. Enter Optional Equipment and Coding Specific to ICM areas and set coding as
displayed in the old cluster.
9. Return to Read Coding and Change if Necessary where the option to select the
National Version coding is displayed.
10. Set the National Configuration accordingly. This will reset / activate the display in
the new cluster. If this still at this stage does not display the mileage, go to
Settings > ICM Settings > Learn Cluster to Drive Authorization to set the cluster
to DAS.
11. Follow directions as prompted by Autologic.
