I found this to be helpful as I have noticed the x431 software is VERY critical in making sure you selected the correct chassis code for the vehicle:

It is out of date but is close. The 1.4.2 and later is more accurate.

I also hear you can verify chassis codes by looking at the OEM hood or trunk struts and that the chassis # is usually somewhere near the PN, is this true?
