As many of you may or may not know, when replacing a battery on a late model BMW E60/63/65/70/90, etc., you must relearn/reset the battery charging system so the vehicle does not over cook the new battery. New batteries are charged differently than old batteries. Leave it to BMW.
According to Snap-On's press release on their new 10.2 software package, they have 'BMW battery management 2002-2008'. Is it possible that Snap-On could figure this out before Launch? I haven't received positive confirmation that it will perform the reset but I would like to know if Launch has this in the works.
there are a couple pieces here for the battery on a late model BMW. First, not all BMW have a battery monitoring modules. if it does it will be under the "Body" menu under battery module. if there are any fault codes you must clear them out accordingly. second, you will have to go to the idrive and reset the battery life in the CBS reset. hope this helps
I have found that with the 2002-2008, 7 series, E65/E66, it is in the DME / DDE. Same with 1995-2001 E38, if equipped. Also 5 series 2004-2010 E60/E61.
Could be wrong on the early years, my bride tells me I am wrong a lot (30 years). LOL
