You may find it on a line with other world cars. (example) celeste/digma/Maxima. Be sure to select correct area and read every line.

If you select Japan you may have the option for Cefiro, this is an equivalent to a '98 Maxima. It's equal to the I30 Infinity also if that is an option.

For Nissan, I ALWAYS select 'other vehicle'.  Once you select the connection type, 14 pin or 16 pin, select 'main system' and you will have the following options: engine system, a/t system, airbag system, abs system, bcm system and 4wd.  After making your selection, the scan tool will automatically search the different protocols and then enter the module giving you the standard options of: read trouble codes, erase trouble codes, etc.

Since you are attempting to scan a '98 you must use the 14 pin connector which is located next to the 16 pin connector.  Up to '99 on Nissan and Infiniti, you must use the 14 pin nissan connector if you want to access anything on the manufacturer's side and the 16 pin for global OBDII.

Its very common for users to select 'vehicle make' which does not apply to the Nissan/Infiniti vehicles sold in the U.S.
