Can't do Throttle re-learns as of recent
Permalink

I have noticed as of late on the last two or three software versions that my tool will no longer adapt throttles. When I go into the Basic Settings Group, Channell 060, the Adpation will run but never give the Adaption OK. I just tried this on a brand new throttle body! I even started asking around the other two techs and they said they haven't got the Launch to provide a Adapton OK after a throttle relearn attempt in over a year.  I even went so far as to load and older verision 25.55 and no help. Is this a problem particular to my Launch tool or have others seen the same pattern?confuse

Ok...here's what I did..verbatum:
Loaded newset version 25.74
Cleared adaption per each and every step on Launch website...key off for 30 seconds

Battery charger attached..12.5 volts verfied
Back into basic settings 060....adaption runs and throttle module goes clickety click..clickety click....but never gives me OK prompt.
So, for the sake of the old college try..I pull out the ole CAN BUS II and then OBD II connectors....

Same result: clickety click and no adaption OK reply  no

Suppose I will head over to Tony's on Monday and see if he Launch will do the job.

Well, used my buddy's Launch (much newer tool) and it did the throttle adaption just fine.   So, what do ya'll think....is this a hardware problem or software issue....any body out there run into this that has an older Launch tool?  Mine is at least 5 years old...maybe its a compatablity issue....old machine....new software?disbelief

I have ran into it on Merc but not VW. I will be up Wednesday and we will discuss it.

I found a work-around on how to get my Launch to do a VW throttle.  Loaded the old VW version 23.0, then dusted off the OBD II connector and Viola! I can now do VW throttle module adaptions again biggrin

Apparently this older machine doesn't work so well when it comes to actuations using the Super 16 connector.

I Will be buying  the latest and greatest that Launch offers in February but in the meantime, persistence and a little experimentation  with the X431 has paid off once again!
