customer came in with a CEL P1697 (EMR (SRI) Mileage Not Stored). he said the light came on after he tried flashing the ECU with a performace flash. went into the "check PCM odometer"and the odo is reading 0 MILES, while the gauge reads 85477 KMS. I tried entering the mileage, and when I hit "ok" the engine light flashes a few time , but nothing changes with the PCM reading.
I'm curious if it's the diagun, or if hescrewed up his ECU.

"Tried" and "Flashing" are something you never want to hear from a customers mouth, lol. Do you know what performance flash/module he used?
I got this from Diablo which are common tuners of the Chryslers, and this is what they said about that code:
"P1697 is an EEPROM overwrite error. This would pop up if you had a flash interupted"
This happend to me with my new x431. I was trying it out on my 08 dodge ram and I came accrossed the check pcm milage and checked it. I tried to change it because it was higher in the pcm then on my odo. So I did and when I started it the light was on and it said the same thing miles not stored in pcm. I called tech support and they told me it was because these units will only write miles on a new computer not one already written on. Which I dont nec. believe or if its true thats an error on their end. I had to go to my friends shop who has a new bosch unit and his had the same setting and it worked fine. He re wrote my miles and the light went off.
Now theres no reason why the launch product can do the same.
