Hi there to all

Would like to know how to code a new ABS control module with x431 in a 2000 BMW X5 3.0i.

Also this vehicle has 2 conectors 20 (inside the engine bay) and 16 pin (under dahs), which one should be the one for this purposes?

Regards

Ray

Whenever it is present on the vehicle, you must use the 20 pin connector under the hood.  Just go to coding/programming - coding/recoding - ABS.

However, there is one catch.  Even if the Launch successfully codes the new ABS module you will need to reset the steering angle sensor before you will be able to clear all of the codes.  Launch cannot perform that function on that chassis.

Is there any alternative way to do steering angle sensor calibration on this vehicle?

Regards

Ray

This function must be performed with a scan tool, because there is a VIN matching required between modules in the car.

Very frrustrating and disapointed about it.

Seems launch is not capable of doing some basic settings on several manufacturer vehicles like BMW, Land Rover, Audi, Porsche, MB and so many european vehcilces that requires this procedures as a commond repair procedures.

Also local distributor has no dam clue about what thir product is capable or not, even worst, they does sell this tool as SACAN TOOL and has not the support nor the capabilities.

Is there any tool you would recomend that may catch witch this kind of needs?

Ray, if you find an aftermarket scan tool anywhere close to the price of Launch that will do as much for Euro vehicles, please let me know.  I'd like to buy it.

I agree it would be fantastic for Launch to be able to perform the steering reset but the reality is that all aftermarket tools will have some holes in coverage.

There is a tool that will do what you want, but something tells me the cost will be an issue.

Erick

Have found this equipment in a very nice price level that performs so many funtions (as much as dealer level) for Land Rover www.bearmach.com, arround $ 300.00 usd.

Also in VAG group vehicles Vag-Com is unbeatable tool at a very reasonable price.

Nice feature of all this is the very proffesional support bouth they have which Launch does not at least in Mexico.

For Chrysler it is a companys like Drew Technologies and Autoenginuity that does a very nice job too at a decent price.

Still need to find something for BMW, shure will in short and keep you post.

Regards

Ray

Can't speak for bearmach.  One guy has it close to me but haven't heard anything good or bad since he got it 6 months ago.

Definitely agree on Ross-Tech VCDS.  A no brainer for VW/Audi.  It's not that the Launch can't do most of what the VCDS does but the VCDS is so damn easy to use almost all dealership techs use it in the service bay.  They typically only use the VAS for programming and keys.

Enginuity is very good on domestic and Jaguars.

You bring up some good tools that are specialized.  None of these tools are as complete as Launch across the board.  That was my point.

For BMW, guess what, its Autologic or nothing for OE level.

I think you understand that the shops with many different scan tools have a distinct advantage.  Every scan tool is going to do something better than another.

Please let me know when you find the better all-around tool than Launch at the price point.
