Have a New Maximus and Have Concerns

furious I posted this in Maximus Forum http://www.launch.activeboard.com/t56037161/recently-purchasedusing-a-maximus-now-printing-not-working/

Essentially diagnostic report printing was working (albeit to a weird font size and print scale) and now it is not.

I have customer/shop printouts from previous days so I know I am not imaging it worked.

Now Tech Support says engineers haven't released the feature yet!?!

Anyone out there have same problem?  Any hints - I think I am doing all setup right - again it worked before?!?

Frankly getting various printouts for bench diagnosis or customer/shop files is so basic it should have been from the outset a priority fully featured function with an intuitive standard Windows metaphor allowing scaling etc.; the "fact" that it is not fully featured or indeed not available properly in any sense is justifiably maddening.

cry The next complaint falls in the category of I should have not assumed "export" meant EXPORT in a standard "Save As" way.  Shame on me.

Some background.  One of the tools we use is Autoenginuity's DLC and their software on our own laptop PC.  A very cost effective arrangement.  They have done a very good job of assuring full function against vehicle brands they cover (very extensive) and stay on top of problems and their support is very available and attentive.

However they do not have the European coverage that Launch has (e.g. Volvo is not supported).

Launch has the best coverage overall it seemed to us, and it seems a very fast, very convenient, and durable wireless tool; so it joined forces with our Snap-On and AE. Note: AE is not wireless yet and will not run on a Pad - so is not physically convenient and this is a significant drawback in field; too bad because otherwise it is very competitive and for the price VERY competitive.

Now to my complaint.

The AE is excellent at providing raw data to study - we are spoiled.  That is, it provides recorded data in standard formats (like CSV) for offline analysis (for example we suck trip data into our own spreadsheets and tailor diagnostic algorithms against it) using standard Window features and applications.

Also in this fashion we can tailor printouts and share raw data easily across internal and external computers.  NO proprietary scan equipment or software is necessary once data is in raw form.

Launch (Maximus) has raw data locked in proprietary format - to me this is unconscionable; it violates the software development standards of openness and portability long ago settled.

Now additional to this I'll add this complaint.  AE relies on Windows and a PC - SO DOES THE Launch (Maximus) if you read their own statements.  In essence the Launch Pad is a convenient PC Laptop of sorts.  Why didn't Launch capitalize on that!?!

AE has graphic screens and screen and window navigation down pat!  It is no great feat though - I am sure they just used standard Window's protocols and APIs to easily program their superior user presentation and navigation metaphor.  Note: I say superior - not always specifically more elegant.  AE has superior screen flexibility/ease and good basic screens utility.  And  back to my easier point you can capture all raw data in standard format and then create your own wiz-bang graphic or use in some exotic algorithm and present result in your own wonderful report. Etc. etc.  See this for a sense of what I mean: http://www.autoenginuity.com/images/dloads/scantool_user_guide.pdf.
